We like to call it period care—upgraded. Saalt Wear is naturally inspired reusable period underwear that absorbs your period flow. It can replace tampons, pads, menstrual cups, and discs, or you can wear Saalt Wear as the perfect backup to an inserted product like a tampon or cup.
People call it magic. We call it 3 ½ years of R&D and a team of impassioned menstruators obsessing over perfecting this for you. :)
Saalt Wear leakproof underwear is made with moisture-separating gusset technology that wicks away wetness to leave your skin feeling drier, longer. Our thin, but highly absorbent inner layer absorbs up to 3x its weight in liquid and traps in moisture beneath the first layer until it’s time to wash. This patent-pending combination means Saalt Wear is thinner, drier, and more comfortable than other period care options on the market. Bonus perk: it's better for the planet too.
Saalt Wear is available in three absorbency levels. Remember that knowing your flow will help determine how long you can wear your leakproof underwear before changing. *A light tampon typically holds 2-3 mL and a regular tampon holds 5mL on average for reference.
Our Leakproof Lace Hipster is made for your light flow days and holds 1–2 light tampons (a little over 1 tsp or 3–6 ml) worth of flow. Our Mesh Hipster and High Waist Brief styles are made for your regular to heavier flow days and hold 2–3 regular tampons (2–3 tsp or 10–15 ml) worth of flow.
The Leakproof Comfort Thong that is made for your light flow days and holds 1–2 light tampons (~ 1 tsp or 3–6 ml) worth of flow. Our Comfort Brief comes in heavy absorbency for your heavy days holding 3-4 regular tampons (3–4 tsp or 15–20 ml) worth of flow.

Our Leakproof Lace & Mesh Collection has silky soft recycled poly fabrics made of post-consumer recycled water bottles to help clean up landfill and ocean-bound plastic.
Our Leakproof Comfort Collection is made from soft and stretchy TENCEL™ Modal fabric. Saalt Wear modal fabric is made of a regenerated cellulose fiber produced from renewable beech wood. Our modal is sourced from Lenzing, an Austrian company that is one of the industry’s leaders in semi-synthetic fiber production.
The custom, patent-pending gusset of Saalt Wear is made with several layers of polyester-based fabric. Hydrophobic and hydrophilic layers work together: A top layer wicks away moisture, moving it away from the body and leaving you feeling dry. Middle layers absorb and hold moisture, and the bottom leak-resistant layer keeps everything locked within the underwear. The gusset is 100% polyester, and the lining is 92% recycled polyester, 8% elastane, > 1% polyurethane. Watch this video to see in real time how our gusset technology works.

As a B Corp, Saalt also supports ethical sourcing and manufacturing practices. Our ethically-made garments are made in a renowned factory that guarantees safe and healthy labor conditions, and goes above and beyond to provide housing, medical care, safe water, and college scholarships for their seamstresses and workers.

If you have a lighter flow, or just want a backup to wear with your cup, disc, or tampon, our lighter absorbency options may be great for you. Wearing your Saalt Wear
Although the Saalt Cup + Saalt Wear dynamic duo is our favorite way to period, we’re all about freeing the flow! Be sure to choose our regular absorbency if your flow is heavier or if you want to free bleed on your lighter days wearing Saalt Wear leakproof underwear alone.
If you have a lighter flow, or just want a backup to wear with your cup, disc, or tampon, our lighter or regular absorbency may be great for you. As we say, “Live Your Element,” and try a pair of Saalt Wear at home first to see what routine works best for you. Remember that knowing your flow will help determine how long you can wear your Saalt Wear before changing.
Go with your flow! How long you can wear your Saalt Wear leakproof underwear before needing to change will depend on your flow and the absorbency level of the style you choose. If you are free bleeding on your heavy day, you may need to change into a fresh pair after a few hours of wear. If you’re wearing your Saalt Wear as a backup to a cup or on a light day, you may be able to wear it all day. We recommend trying Saalt Wear for the first time at home so you can see how your pair works best for your body and ~flow~.
No, when cared for properly, your Saalt Wear should not smell! Saalt Wear is treated with a bio-based solution for odor control that removes sweat odor and eliminates bacteria to keep you fresh and odor-free.
Think less pad-like bulk and more thin, breezy, forgot-I'm-on-my-period period underwear. Just like your regular underwear, but period-proof. Saalt Wear’s next-to-skin layer is second to none in wicking away wetness to leave your skin feeling drier, longer. And since the inner layer absorbs up to 3 times its weight in liquid, this patent-pending technology means Saalt Wear is thinner and more comfortable than other period options, without the bulk.
Saalt Wear fabric has been treated with stain release technology to help keep your undies looking their best. After use, be sure to rinse your Saalt Wear in cold water to help avoid staining. Then, hand wash or machine wash on cold, preferably in a wash bag intended for delicates. You can use a mild detergent, but pass on the fabric softener, bleach, and iron to protect the tech. Proudly hang dry—energy efficient, and free.
No. Saalt Wear leakproof underwear is intended for wear only when the body is dry, out of water.
Yes, you can! Saalt Wear’s leakproof technology works for any fluid, which means you can wear it during your period to catch your flow, or any time you want your underwear to help you feel fresh, dry, and confident. That said, for those light bladder leaks, we recommend our higher absorbency styles.
What, you don’t like sporting mesh hospital undies and diaper-like pads for a month? Neither do we. (Trust us, we’re a team of more than a few seasoned moms). Saalt Wear leakproof underwear is ideal to wear in those postpartum days when inserted products are off limits until your body heals. The absorbent layer in the gusset of Saalt Wear will absorb your flow, while the beautiful design hugs your curves in all the right ways. Your body did an incredible thing, you deserve underwear that lives up to this special occasion. ♥ Check out our Comfort Brief in Heavy absorbency. Our U.S. site retails a few more heavy absorbency options as well. 👍🏼

As an environmentally-conscious B Corp, we only carry products that are good for both our bodies and the planet. That means that Saalt Wear is not disposable, but reusable! This makes it a sustainable choice, eliminating waste from single-use period products that end up in our landfills and waterways. With proper care, Saalt Wear should last through scores of home launderings while helping our planet last too.
Care for your Saalt Wear
Take good care of Saalt Wear, and it will take great care of you.
After use, rinse your Saalt Wear leakproof underwear in cold water to help avoid staining. Then, hand wash or machine wash on cold, preferably in a laundry bag intended for delicates. You can use detergent but pass on the fabric softener, bleach, and iron to protect the tech. Proudly hang dry—energy efficient and free. We recommend avoiding putting Saalt Wear in the dryer, as high temperatures can degrade the elastics and fabric over time.
Your Saalt Wear might survive a tumble through the dryer, but we recommend always hanging your period wear to dry. High heat can degrade the elastics and fabric over time and may damage the textile technology that makes Saalt Wear odor-resistant and leak-free. Also, avoid dryer sheets and fabric softeners. These leave a coating on fabrics that make them repel liquids, which won't help them help you on your period.
Saalt Wear leakproof underwear is made from premium materials that are tested for scores of home launderings. The better you care for them, the longer they will last. Be sure to rinse in cold water (this helps avoid staining) before tossing them in the washing machine in a mesh delicates bag. Wash with similar colors with mild detergent in cold water and hang dry.
We recommend immediately rinsing your Saalt Wear with cold water to avoid staining, and washing them soon after to avoid odors that could build up over several days.
Because your undies cover a very delicate part of your body, it’s important to avoid harsh detergents that may irritate your skin. We recommend using a mild, natural detergent or specialized detergents made for lingerie and delicates.
First, kudos to you for thinking beyond the trash can! Did you know nearly ALL textiles can be recycled? Yes, even period wear can be recycled through textile recycling services that sort them by color and material type, and shred them to become fiberfill or stuffing. To find a textile recycler near you, just search “your town + textile recycling” to see what pops up!
We believe reusable products are the key to a more sustainable future.
First, the Saalt Cup + Saalt Wear dynamic duo is our favorite way to period. Why? Because it provides a fully reusable solution to replace both tampons and pads that is better for our bodies and planet.
Now let’s talk period waste.
Did you know that one person with a period generates an average of 7.3 pounds of period waste per year and will use over 11,000 disposable, one-time-use menstrual products over their reproductive lifetime? And it takes a tampon longer to degrade than the lifespan of the person who wears it.
Using reusable solutions like period underwear and menstrual cups is one of the simplest ways to divert massive amounts of period waste. Keep in mind we've only talked about the waste, this doesn't even consider the strain on natural resources that the production of so many disposable products creates, and the carbon footprint of all that manufacturing. Reusable products just use less, waste less, and are cleaner to produce.
Then there’s the health factor.
Tampons are getting a lot of press these days because of toxic components not required to be listed in the ingredients. We're seeing a major shift in the marketplace where consumers are actively choosing safer and healthier options for themselves and the environment. From high-quality materials to clean manufacturing processes, Saalt Wear leakproof underwear is a remarkably safe and simple solution for period care. Some of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX®️ registered and bluesign®️ approved which are internationally recognized standards for making textiles cleaner and more environmentally friendly.
And they are ethically made too.
As a B Corp, we select supply chain partners whose values align with the commitment we’ve made to be a force for good in the world. Our ethically-made fabrics are made in a renowned factory that guarantees safe and healthy labor conditions, and goes above and beyond to provide housing, medical care, safe water, and college scholarships for their seamstresses and workers.
Finally, you get to do good with every wear.
From every purchase, Saalt gives 2% to donate period care to areas with the most need, and funds initiatives in menstrual health, girls education, and sustainability. Thank you for (period) caring.

Saalt Disc
The Saalt Disc is your new best friend. The Saalt Disc is a reusable menstrual disc made of soft silicone that is worn internally like a tampon but collects—rather than absorbs—your menstrual flow. Naturally odorless and biocompatible, menstrual discs are a healthy and sustainable alternative to pads and tampons. Because the Saalt Disc has a capacity 4–6 times that of a regular tampon, you can wear it for up to 12 hours before emptying. Yes, that means you may only have to change it twice a day and can sleep with it in. Unlike period cups, the disc does not require suction to stay in place. Rather, it is held in place by its rim in the vaginal fornix (aka the space around the cervix) so you can comfortably hike, swim, and even have sex with your disc inserted.*
* A Saalt Disc will not prevent pregnancy or protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The Saalt Disc is a healthy and sustainable alternative to pads, tampons, and disposable discs making it better for you and the planet.
Sustainable - One menstrual disc lasts for up to 10 years and replaces thousands of single-use period products. Your wallet will thank you, too! (Wonder how much waste you can eliminate by switching? Try our Waste Calculator to find out!)
Healthy - The Saalt Disc is made from 100% medical-grade silicone, so it’s naturally hypoallergenic, toxin-free, and maintains natural pH. No BPA. No latex. No odors. No worries.
Comfortable - Soft and flexible, it molds to your shape. Saalt creates premium menstrual discs that are modern and innovative, with soft, smooth silicone for maximum comfort.
Convenient - Because it has 4–6 times the capacity of a regular tampon, you can wear your Saalt Disc for up to 12 hours before emptying. Yes, even while sleeping!
A Saalt Disc can be a great addition to your sustainable period care collection! The Saalt Menstrual Disc is held in place by its rim rather than by suction, which can make it a great option for those with weakened pelvic floor muscles. Because it has a lower profile and no stem, the disc will be your best friend on days when your cervix sits lower. And hey, let’s address the elephant in the room, the Saalt Disc can also be worn for no-mess period sex.*
* Saalt Disc will not prevent pregnancy or protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Anyone who has a period can use a Saalt Disc! There are no limits on menstrual disc use based on age or life experience, so we welcome new users to upgrade their period with the Saalt Disc!
In some situations (like if you have an IUD, or have ever had TSS), you should consult with your medical provider before using a menstrual disc. Find out more in our FAQ section about Health Concerns.
Saalt Menstrual Discs are a great period care solution for anyone with a period! Yes, you can still use a disc even if you’ve never used a tampon or put anything in your vagina before. Many people who don’t like or haven’t used tampons use our discs and love them. We encourage you to take your time, go slowly, and listen to your body as you learn to insert your disc.
For some people, anatomical differences like the size or shape of the hymen or a smaller vaginal canal may mean that a longer time practicing and learning will be needed before disc use will come easily. We are here to help! Our Saalt Cup Academy on Facebook is a safe and supportive place to ask questions and get help to make the transition to disc use a great one!
For some, menstrual disc success comes right away, and for others, there is a learning curve that depends on the user's unique anatomy. Everyone is different! Each individual’s success with a menstrual disc relies first on their level of comfort with learning about their body and being in physical contact with their intimate anatomy (i.e. putting their fingers in their vagina to insert and remove the disc), and second, on having the right tips and tricks. With time and patience, most people will be able to use a disc. Be sure to check out our Saalt resources or contact us directly for disc support. It's like we're holding your hand. But metaphorically... because you'll need your hand. ;)
Typically, it takes at least two cycles for your body to get used to the idea of a new disc, so be patient with yourself as you navigate the learning curve and check out our Saalt Cup Academy on Facebook to get tips and support from other savvy Saalt users.

You want to keep your fancy pants fancy, we get it. The Saalt Disc offers up to 12 hours of leak-free protection, so backup is optional. However, you may choose to supplement your disc with a pad, liner, or period underwear. So go ahead and pair your disc with Saalt Wear for leak protection that passes the white pants test.
Saalt Menstrual Discs are made of 100% medical-grade silicone and are BPA, PFAS, rubber, and latex-free. Our discs do not contain harmful dyes but are rather colored with pigmented silicone. That's right, the color itself is also medical-grade silicone. The silicone has been tested and certified for cytotoxicity and skin sensitization per rigorous FDA testing standards so it is biocompatible and hypoallergenic. To ensure that our discs do not leach any substance into the body, we put our discs through third-party testing to ensure consumer safety and we’re happy to say our discs pass the test! Because silicone is set in a permanent bond, it cannot melt and nothing can ever leach out.
Yes! Saalt Menstrual Discs are vegan and cruelty-free. Saalt Discs are sourced using a medical-grade silicone that is already tested and FDA approved and manufactured in an ISO 13485 certified facility. Neither our menstrual discs nor the raw materials used to make them have been tested on animals, just our family and friends. ;)
The Saalt Disc is made with velvety smooth 100% medical-grade silicone. The removal notch with added grooves makes for easy and comfortable removal. The rim of the disc was designed to be firm enough to hold its place, but flexible enough to sit comfortably so you can live your element knowing the Saalt Disc has you covered.
Up to 10 years—that’s as long as your passport! Saalt Menstrual Discs are made of durable silicone that can last up to 10 years with proper care. If your disc is ripped or torn, or the silicone is showing visible signs of wear or deterioration, it’s time to replace your disc. You can preserve the longevity of your disc by always following Saalt’s guidelines for cleaning, sanitizing, and storing your disc, and by handling your disc carefully to avoid scratching or damaging the silicone.
The size small can hold up to 30ml and the size regular can hold up to 50ml. In other words, your Saalt Disc can hold up to 4-6 tampons worth of flow.
Saalt Disc Small: Capacity (3-4 tampons), Volume (30 ml), Height (30mm), Rim Diameter (56mm)
Saalt Disc Regular: Capacity (5-6 tampons), Volume (50 ml), Height (35mm), Rim Diameter (66mm)
Glad you asked! There are several factors that play a role in choosing a size. Mainly, if you have a medium to high cervix we recommend a Saalt Disc Regular. If you have a low cervix we recommend the Saalt Disc Small. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to measure your cervix. See our full size guide here. For additional sizing help, contact our Saalt Coaches directly.
Disc Inserting and Positioning
Let’s be real, it’s the question we all had when we made the switch. And then we learned, YOU FOLD IT FIRST. Light bulbs! When your menstrual disc is folded, the insertion point is quite small. With clean hands, fold the disc by pinching the rim together in the center to form an “8” shape with the removal notch at one end.
The Saalt Disc fits comfortably in your vaginal fornix (aka the space around the cervix) and is held in place by its rim. When inserted properly, it will rest naturally; you won't even notice it’s there.
Many people find that they can wear either size comfortably, but one size may suit your anatomy better than the other. If you’re unsure of which size to choose, it is helpful to know your cervix height. To measure your cervix height, follow these steps:
With clean hands, insert 1–2 fingers into your vaginal canal. Feel for the opening of your cervix, which feels similar to soft cartilage (some compare to the tip of a nose but softer). Your cervix will have a tiny hole in the center. Reaching your cervix with your finger inserted to the 1st knuckle = low, 2nd knuckle = medium, 3rd knuckle = high. If your cervix height is low to medium, we recommend you choose the Saalt size small disc. If your cervix height is medium to high, we recommend you choose the Saalt size regular disc.
Your cervix can change position throughout your cycle. Because your cervix may descend lower into the vaginal canal or continue to sit higher during your period, it's best to check your cervix height several times throughout your period.
Yes! Water is a great natural lubricant. Try wetting/rinsing the menstrual disc with warm water before inserting it. If you’d like to use additional lubricant to aid in insertion, be sure to use a product that is water-based and safe for vaginal use. Please do not use oil-based lubricants, like coconut oil, to aid in your disc insertion. These may degrade the silicone over time, reducing the longevity of your Saalt Disc.
The menstrual disc rests in the vaginal fornix (aka the space around the cervix), unlike cups or tampons which sit in the vaginal canal. When positioned correctly, it should fit comfortably and be leak free. It’s natural and normal for the cervix to change position throughout the cycle, so you may find that the position of your disc can change slightly from day to day. For some people with strong pelvic muscles or a high cervix, the disc may naturally find its way higher during use, which isn’t a problem as long as you don’t experience discomfort.
To position your disc, insert it at a horizontal angle, pointed toward your tailbone. When you have your disc inserted about halfway, aim the disc downward toward the floor or toilet water. This will help your disc move into position behind your cervix. Once the disc is fully inserted, push up on the front of the rim to tuck the disc behind your pubic bone. As long as your disc is positioned below or around your cervix to collect your flow, you’re good to go! *pro tip - Many people find that it helps to use their thumb to secure the rim of their disc behind their pubic bone. The shorter length and different angle of the thumb can make a huge difference. You can gently bear down and toggle the removal notch back and forth to ensure your disc is fully open and expanded within your vaginal fornix.
While the Saalt Disc was designed to be the easiest to use and most comfortable disc on the market, some people find that it takes some adjusting to find their perfect fit. If your disc is not staying tucked behind the pubic bone, it is either a sign that the disc should be readjusted or that the disc is not the correct size.
First, try to reinsert your disc. Slide it in and back at an angle (towards your tailbone, not straight up), following the natural slant of your vaginal canal. Then, tuck the front of your disc behind your pubic bone. Disc Cleaning and Care
Your Saalt Menstrual Disc can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying. We recommend emptying it morning and night. Of course, you know your body best. On days that you have a heavier flow, you might find you need to remove and empty more frequently.
See Before First Use for how to clean your disc right out of the box. During your period, remove the disc (always use clean hands) and rinse first using cold water to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then wash using warm water and mild soap (like our Saalt Wash). Rinse again to completely remove any soap. Your disc is then ready to reinsert.
After your period, rinse your menstrual disc in cold water first to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then wash thoroughly using our all-natural Saalt Wash or hot water and mild soap. Avoid strong cleaners or anything that may irritate your skin if not completely washed off. Use a soft rag to wipe away any buildup. Then sanitize your disc by placing it in a pot of boiling water for 4–5 minutes (but not more than 7 min). Use tongs or a whisk to make sure the disc doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot. When boiling your disc is not an option, you may sanitize it by rinsing it with water and then thoroughly wiping your disc (and all its nooks and crannies) with a soft rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol. Allow the alcohol to evaporate and you’re good to go!
Please do not use the following that may degrade the silicone over time, disrupt your natural pH and vaginal flora, or may lead to irritation:
*Antibacterial soap
*Hand soap
*Sterilizing tablets
*Bleach
*Baking soda
*Castile soaps
*Vinegar
*Extended soaking in any substance
We recommend washing your Saalt Disc at least once every 12 hours with our all-natural Saalt Wash, but it’s not the only option. You may also use any other mild soap that is pH balanced, fragrance-free, oil-free, and rinses clean with no residue.
Please do not use the following that may degrade the silicone over time, disrupt your natural pH and vaginal flora, or may lead to irritation:
-Anything that may leave behind residue.
-Anything that irritates your skin
-Vinegar
-Soaps containing tea tree or peppermint oil
-Dish soap
-Antibacterial soaps
-Hand soaps
-Oil-based soaps
-Castile soap
-Coconut oil
-Baking soda
To prevent discoloration, always rinse your disc first with cold water after emptying. Then wash your disc with Saalt Wash or a mild cleanser that is free of oils and fragrances. Though silicone can become discolored over time, your Saalt Disc is still good to use. Wiping your disc with a clean, soft rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol will often also eliminate discoloration.
If you have access to a sink in a public restroom, the best method is to remove and empty your disc, then wash it in a sink as you would at home. If it’s inconvenient to get to the sink in a public restroom, no worries! You might consider carrying a small water bottle or squirt bottle in your bag to use on the go. You can also use a fragrance-free wet wipe or a clean, wet paper towel to wipe your disc clean. The most important thing to remember is to always handle your disc during insertion and removal with clean hands. Later, you can choose to wash your disc more thoroughly.
Disc Lifestyle
Healthy living is a pretty big deal here at Saalt, so kudos to you for keeping active. Because we designed the Saalt Disc to fit comfortably in the vaginal fornix (aka the space just around the cervix), you can maintain the same level of activity that you do when you’re not on your period. We recommend emptying your disc before engaging in strenuous activity to further prevent unwanted leaks. Go ahead and swim, dance, and be free from bulky pads or dangling strings.
We totally dig that. Fortunately, the disc is designed to mold to your shape and hold in place, allowing you to breeze through those asanas, no problem.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Tampon fibers absorb water, bacteria, and chemicals while swimming that can become hospitable toward microbial growth (not to mention that pesky string!). Saalt Menstrual Discs sit in the vaginal fornix (aka the wider space around the cervix) and create a barrier that prevents you from leaking. So if you want to avoid soggy tampons and harmful chemicals, you’ll love your period upgrade with Saalt.
Intimacy with the Saalt Disc
Yes! Your Saalt Disc may be worn during sex, including penetrative vaginal intercourse. Take your time and be gentle until you learn how the disc works with your anatomy. If you use lubricant, make sure that it is water-based, as oil-based products can degrade the silicone over time. Empty your menstrual disc before intercourse and clean it afterward. The Saalt Disc is not a contraceptive device, so we recommend using your preferred form of contraception with your Saalt Disc. Reach out to your doctor if you have questions about whether your contraceptive is compatible with a disc.
*Saalt Disc will not prevent pregnancy or protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The Saalt Disc is not a contraceptive, so it will not prevent pregnancy or protect against sexually transmitted infections. We recommend sticking to your preferred methods of contraception. If you have additional questions about how to use a menstrual disc with your preferred form of contraception, we recommend that you ask your medical provider.
Because the cervix can move higher during arousal, if you try to remove your menstrual disc immediately after sex, you may find that your disc has migrated higher in your vaginal canal. If you find it difficult to remove your disc after sex, we recommend waiting at least 30 minutes to allow your disc to return to its original position.
After having sex, remove and wash your menstrual disc as you would normally during your period using Saalt Wash or a mild, fragrance-free pH-balanced soap.
Disc Health Concerns
Most people do not need to talk to their doctor before using a menstrual disc. If you have an IUD or have ever had TSS, we do recommend that you talk with your doctor before using a disc. We’re period experts, not medical experts, so if you have a medical condition or something in your medical history that makes you wonder if disc use is right for you, we always encourage you to check with your trusted medical provider for their recommendation.
Though using a menstrual disc with an IUD or contraceptive ring should be no problem, we recommend talking with your medical provider before use. Some disc users find that it is more comfortable if the strings on their IUD are trimmed shorter prior to using their disc. Because the Saalt Disc doesn’t rely on suction to stay in place, you will not need to break a seal to remove the disc. When positioning your disc with a ring contraceptive, insert the ring first to secure its position. Once you’ve inserted your disc, make sure the ring is not resting inside your disc as it works by contacting your skin. Many disc users reported that compared to a tampon, the disc was easier to insert and remove without disturbing the ring.
At Saalt, we believe that knowledge is power, and knowing the truth about TSS is equally as important as knowing the signs and symptoms. The reality is that all people who have a period are at risk of TSS. No matter what products you use to care for your period, there is always a risk of TSS. The short answer is that getting TSS while using a menstrual disc is possible, but highly unlikely. To minimize your risk, always wash your hands before and after handling your disc, clean your disc thoroughly between periods, and consider emptying your disc more frequently. Consult your doctor before using a menstrual disc if you’ve previously been diagnosed with TSS.
If you have any of the following symptoms, stop using any inserted products and contact your doctor right away:
A sudden high fever
Muscle aches
A rash resembling a sunburn, particularly on your palm and soles
Low blood pressure
Vomiting or diarrhea
Seizures
Confusion
Severe pelvic or abdominal pain

Of course! Saalt’s menstrual discs are made of 100% medical-grade silicone that is blissfully latex, BPA, and toxin-free.
Rest easy—you can comfortably use Saalt Disc with a high, low, or tilted/retroverted cervix. In fact, the location of the cervix may change naturally throughout a person’s cycle. If your cervix is higher, your disc may find its way higher in the vaginal canal during use. If this is the case for you, we recommend the Regular size Saalt Disc. For those with a low cervix, our size Small may be your most comfortable option. If your cervix is tilted, be sure to take some time to find which angle will suit you best when your disc is inserted. Many people with tilted cervixes who have experienced leaking with cups or tampons find that a disc is a great option for leak-free comfort!

Disc Troubleshooting
If you can't reach your menstrual disc when it is inserted, relax. The Saalt disc cannot get lost inside the vagina; sometimes it may sit higher up and be hard to reach (this can happen at night or after having sex). You can use your pelvic muscles to move the disc lower. We refer to this as gently bearing down, and it should feel similar to starting an easy bowel movement or releasing gas. Try not to strain when you bear down, and breathe with an open mouth and loose throat to prevent pressure on your pelvic floor. With a clean finger, reach for the rim of the disc. Hook one finger in the removal notch to untuck the disc from behind your pubic bone. You may also continue to move around and gravity will naturally move the disc back down to its normal position. Try again to remove it after 30 minutes.
If you find your cervix becoming sore from the disc removal process, we recommend trying the following to not irritate your cervix:
- Try gently bearing down like you’re going to pee to relax your pelvic floor and loosen your vaginal muscles. (Never hold your breath while bearing down, but continue breathing)
- Grab the rim of the disc, either by finding the removal notch, or simply hooking the rim with your finger. Twist/pull the disc to the side to release it from behind the cervix first.
- Then remove the disc as you normally would.
If you need additional assistance, please email sayhey@saalt.com.
If your menstrual disc has rotated, no worries! While the removal notch is helpful for easier removal, you can hook your finger on any part of the rim to remove your disc. You may also try using a finger to rotate your disc until you can feel the removal notch again.
When the Saalt Disc is positioned correctly under your cervix, it will be leak and sensation free. After inserting your menstrual disc, use a clean finger to feel underneath the basin of your disc to check for your cervix. If you feel your cervix, which feels like the tip of your nose, try removing your disc and reinserting it. Slide it in and back at an angle (towards your tailbone, not straight up), following the natural slant of your vaginal canal. Check the rim of the disc to ensure that it is open and completely tucked behind your pubic bone.
If you experience minor leaking or discomfort, especially when using the restroom, it’s possible that your disc has self-emptied. Self-emptying can happen when the pelvic floor muscles contract, causing the rim of the disc to momentarily move out of place. This can result in some of the contents of your disc spilling. The rim will likely return to its original position to continue providing you a leak-free experience. To ensure that your disc is in the right position, use a clean finger to check that the rim of your disc is tucked behind your pubic bone. We are here to help! Please send us a direct message or email sayhey@saalt.com if you have questions. Keep trying small adjustments, the most minor changes can make a huge difference!
Wipe or rinse your labia after insertion to prevent spotting. Spotting can be caused by blood left in the vagina after insertion. After inserting your menstrual disc, wipe a finger across the basin of the disc to remove any excess blood, then wash your hands. You can supplement your disc with a pad, liner, or period underwear (like Saalt Wear) while you are learning to use it or on your heaviest days.
If you only experience spotting while using the restroom or just after, it is likely that your disc has self-emptied. This can happen when your pelvic floor contracts while having a bowel movement. The rim will likely return to its original position to continue providing you with a leak-free experience. To ensure that your menstrual disc is in the right position, use a clean finger to check that the rim of your disc is tucked behind your pubic bone. Then, wipe away any excess blood to prevent further spotting.
For some, there is a feeling of fullness or slight pressure the first cycle or two until their bodies adjust to the idea of a menstrual disc.
If the menstrual disc is positioned incorrectly, it can put pressure on your urethra, bladder, or rectum. It may feel like you have to urinate often, have a weak urine stream, or need to have a bowel movement. Regardless of where the pressure is, adjusting the position of the disc should help relieve this pressure. The rim of the disc should rest on your pubic bone. When inserting your disc, be sure to insert at a horizontal angle, pointed toward your tailbone, to match the natural slant of your vaginal canal. When the disc is halfway inserted, aim the disc downward toward the floor or toilet water to ensure it goes behind the cervix. Many people find that it helps to use their thumb to secure the rim of their disc behind their pubic bone. The shorter length and different angle of the thumb can make a huge difference.
If pressure persists, please reach out to us at sayhey@saalt.com so we can help you achieve period bliss!

For some, menstrual cup success comes right away, and for others, there is a learning curve that depends on the user's unique anatomy. Everyone is different! There are two big factors that really impact anyone's success with a menstrual cup. We are always here to help you navigate the learning curve. Be sure to check out our Saalt resources to help you learn. It's like we're holding your hand. But metaphorically... because you'll need your hand. ;)

The short answer is NO! Say goodbye to bulky pads for good. Some people choose to supplement their cup with period underwear while mastering the learning curve or on their heavier days. Our period underwear, Saalt Wear, has your back to make the switch to a fully sustainable period. Cup cheers!
Saalt Menstrual Cups are made of 100% medical-grade silicone and are BPA, PFAS, rubber, and latex-free. Our cups do not contain harmful dyes, but are rather colored with pigmented silicone. That's right, the color itself is also medical-grade silicone. The silicone has been tested and certified for cytotoxicity and skin sensitization per rigorous FDA testing standards so it is biocompatible and hypoallergenic. To ensure that our cups do not leach any substance into the body, we put our cups through third-party testing to ensure consumer safety and we’re happy to say our cups pass the test! Because silicone is set in a permanent bond, it cannot melt and nothing can ever leach out.
Yes! Saalt Menstrual Cups are vegan and cruelty-free. Saalt cups are sourced using a medical-grade silicone that is already tested and FDA approved and manufactured in an ISO 13485 certified facility. Neither our cups nor the raw materials used to make them have been tested on animals, just our family and friends. ;)
Great question! Saalt Menstrual Cups are made from 100% medical-grade silicone and our unique design sets us apart from the crowd. Our bulb shape creates two points of contact in the vaginal canal, helping the cup be sensation and leak free as it stays put with a great seal. We use a velvety soft silicone for comfort, but our cup is still firm enough to open easily and retain its shape to prevent leaking. We know we’re partial, but we also love our soft flexible stem that is ultra-comfortable and will never rub or irritate. Our dedicated Saalt Coaches/customer service team are also in your corner whenever you need them to help you find success with your cup. Last, when you purchase Saalt products, you’re also helping provide improved period care and menstrual health education to people in need. Thank you.
Up to 10 years—that’s as long as your passport! Saalt Menstrual Cups are made of durable silicone that can last up to 10 years with proper care. If your cup is ripped or torn, or the silicone is showing visible signs of wear or deterioration, it’s time to replace your cup. You can preserve the longevity of your cup by always following Saalt’s guidelines for cleaning, sanitizing, and storing your cup, and by handling your cup carefully to avoid scratching or damaging the silicone.
The Saalt Teen Cup holds up to 15 ml of fluid (2x the amount of a regular tampon), our size small holds up to 25 ml of fluid (3x the amount of a regular tampon), and the size regular holds up to 30 ml (4x the amount of a regular tampon). To compare, the very largest tampons max out at 18 ml of fluid.
Saalt Teen Cup: Capacity (1–2 tampons), Volume (15 ml), Height (with stem 65 mm), Rim Diameter (37.7 mm)
Saalt Small: Capacity (2–3 tampons), Volume (25 ml), Height (with stem 70 mm), Rim Diameter (41 mm)
Saalt Regular: Capacity (3–4 tampons), Volume (30 ml), Height (with stem 70 mm), Rim Diameter (46 mm)
Glad you asked! There are several factors that play a role in choosing a size. Take our Cup Quiz to find which size and firmness may be your best fit. The best indicator of which cup to purchase is cervix height, specifically while on your period. Don’t know your cervix height? Check out this video to learn this information for yourself! For a medium to low cervix we recommend the Saalt Small cup. For a medium to high cervix we recommend the Saalt Regular cup. For teens or those with a very low cervix we recommend the Saalt Teen cup.
Opens easily for a secure fit and seal. Great for new menstrual cup users.
Saalt's original menstrual cup was designed to be the easiest to use and most comfortable cup on the market. The medical-grade silicone has a velvety soft finish and is on the slightly firm side of average and is engineered with a bulb shape that retains its form very well. This makes it an excellent cup for first-time cup users because the slightly firmer structure allows it to pop open easily when inserted and creates a really good seal, so it's leak free and sits comfortably in place.
Designed with comfort in mind, especially for those with sensitivity.
The Saalt Soft is designed especially for those with a history of bladder sensitivity, cramping or discomfort with firmer menstrual cups. The Saalt Soft has the same bulb shape and soft rounded transitions, but is made from a slightly softer medical-grade silicone that is designed especially for those who have experienced bladder sensitivity, additional cramping or discomfort with firmer cups. Because the silicone is softer, it can take a little more effort to get opened, but once it's sealed, many find it to be the perfect fit for comfort.
Is the Saalt Soft for me? Read more information about the Saalt Soft here.
The Saalt Teen Cup was designed with teens, for teens. The smaller size allows it to fold very small for easy insertion and may be more comfortable for those who are new to using inserted products. This makes it a great choice for teens and for anyone who may prefer a smaller menstrual cup (like people with a very low cervix).
All Saalt Menstrual Cups are made from 100% medical-grade silicone and our unique design sets us apart from the crowd. Our bulb shape creates two points of contact, helping the cup be sensation and leak free as it stays put with a great seal. We use a velvety soft silicone for comfort, but our cup is still firm enough to open easily and retain its shape to prevent leaking. We know we’re partial, but we also love our soft flexible stem that is ultra-comfortable and will never rub or irritate.
Say no to uncomfortable stems! The stem on your Saalt Menstrual Cup is designed to be soft and comfortable so you can keep it to help locate the cup. Depending on how you wear your cup, you may decide to trim off part or all of the stem. If you do, trim on one of the indentations. Never trim the stem while your cup is inserted. Make sure you know the desired length before trimming. Take care not to cut or scratch any part of the cup when trimming to avoid unwanted tearing of the cup. We recommend using your cup with the stem intact for at least one full period before choosing whether or not to trim your stem. Your cervix changes position throughout your cycle and you may find that having the stem is helpful to locate the cup later during your period.
Cup Inserting and Positioning
Let’s be real, it’s the question we all had when we made the switch. And then we learn, YOU FOLD IT FIRST. Light bulbs! When your cup is folded, the insertion point is quite small. Give different folds a try, making sure to hold the fold tightly during insertion. Many people find that the Punch Down Fold or 7-Fold gives them the smallest insertion point.
Time for some origami! The three most popular folds to try when inserting your cup are the C Fold, the Punch Down Fold, and the 7-Fold. Give them each a try and see which one works best for you. Easy peasy.
Saalt Menstrual Cups fit comfortably inside your vaginal canal and stay in place when a seal is formed between the outside of the cup and the walls of your vagina. When inserted properly, it will rest naturally; you won't even notice it’s there.
If your cervix height is low to medium, we recommend you choose the Saalt size small. If your cervix height is medium to high, we recommend you choose the Saalt size regular.
Your cervix can change position throughout your ovulation cycle. Because your cervix may descend lower into the vaginal canal or continue to sit higher during your period, it's best to check your cervix height several times throughout your period.
Yes! Water is a great natural lubricant. Try wetting/rinsing the cup before inserting your cup. If you feel the need to use additional lubricant to aid in insertion, be sure to use a product that is water-based and safe for vaginal use. Please do not use oil-based lubricants, like coconut oil, to aid in your cup use. These may degrade the silicone over time, reducing the longevity of your Saalt Cup.
A Saalt Menstrual Cup should sit lower than a tampon in the vaginal canal, below the cervix. When positioned correctly, it should fit comfortably and be leak free. It’s natural and normal for the cervix to change position throughout the cycle, so you may find that the best placement for your cup may change from day to day. For some people with strong pelvic muscles or a high cervix, the cup may naturally find its way higher in the vaginal canal during use. For the most comfortable fit, it’s best to match the angle of the cup to the natural slant of your vaginal canal. The easiest way to do this is to insert your cup more horizontally, as if pointing toward your tailbone.
Cup Cleaning and Care
Your Saalt Menstrual Cup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying. We recommend emptying it morning and night. Of course, you know your body best. On days that you have a heavier flow, you might find you need to remove and empty more frequently.
See Before First Use for how to clean your menstrual cup right out of the box. During your period, remove the cup (always use clean hands) and rinse first using cold water to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then wash using warm water and mild soap (like our Saalt Wash). Rinse again to completely remove any soap. Your cup is then ready to reinsert.
After your period, rinse your menstrual cup in cold water first to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then wash thoroughly using our all-natural Saalt Wash or hot water and mild soap. Avoid strong cleaners or anything that may irritate your skin if not completely washed off. Use a soft rag to wipe away any buildup. Clear the four holes at the top of your Saalt Menstrual Cup by passing water through the holes. Then sanitize your cup by placing it in a pot of boiling water for 4–5 minutes (but not more than 7 min). Use tongs or a whisk to make sure the cup doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot. When boiling is not an option, you may sanitize your cup by rinsing it with water then thoroughly wiping your cup (and all its nooks and crannies) with a soft rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol. Allow the alcohol to evaporate and you’re good to go!
Please do not use the following that may degrade the silicone over time, disrupt your natural pH and vaginal flora, or may lead to irritation:
*Antibacterial soap
*Hand soap
*Sterilizing tablets
*Bleach
*Baking soda
*Castile soaps
*Vinegar
*Extended soaking in any substance
We recommend washing your Saalt Cup at least once every 12 hours with our all-natural Saalt Wash, but it’s not the only option. You may also use any other mild soap that is pH balanced, fragrance-free, oil-free, and rinses clean with no residue.
Please do not use the following that may degrade the silicone over time, disrupt your natural pH and vaginal flora, or may lead to irritation:
-Anything that may leave behind residue.
-Anything that irritates your skin
-Vinegar
-Soaps containing tea tree or peppermint oil
-Dish soap
-Antibacterial soaps
-Hand soaps
-Oil-based soaps
-Castile soap
-Dr. Bonners
-Coconut oil
-Baking soda
To prevent discoloration, always rinse your cup first with cold water after emptying. Then wash your cup with Saalt Wash or a mild cleanser that is free of oils and fragrances. Though silicone can become discolored over time, your Saalt Menstrual Cup is still safe to use.
If you have access to a sink in a public restroom, the best method is to remove and empty your menstrual cup, then wash it in a sink as you would at home. If it’s inconvenient to get to the sink in a public restroom, no worries! You might consider carrying a small water bottle or squirt bottle in your bag to use on-the-go. You can also use a fragrance-free wet wipe or a clean, wet paper towel to wipe your cup clean. The most important thing to remember is to always handle your cup during insertion and removal with clean hands. Later, you can choose to wash your cup more thoroughly.
Cup Lifestyle
Healthy living is a pretty big deal here at Saalt, so kudos to you for keeping active. Because we designed Saalt Menstrual Cups to fit snugly inside your vaginal canal, you can maintain the same level of activity that you do when you’re not on your period. Go ahead and swim, dance, and be free from bulky pads or dangling strings.
We totally dig that. Fortunately, the seal created between your menstrual cup and vaginal walls should allow you to breeze through those asanas, no problem.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Tampon fibers absorb water, bacteria, and chemicals while swimming that can become hospitable toward microbial growth. Saalt Menstrual Cups form a seal that creates a barrier between you and the water and still prevents you from leaking. So if you want to avoid soggy tampons and harmful chemicals, you’ll love your period upgrade with Saalt.
Unfortunately, no. You’ll need to remove your menstrual cup before penetrative, vaginal intercourse. If you’re looking for a menstrual product you can wear during intercourse, we recommend the Saalt Disc instead. (Available from our US site, international shipping will apply. Also currently available from our UK partners over at The Period Lady.)
Cup Health Concerns
Most people do not need to talk to their doctor before using a menstrual cup. If you have an IUD or have ever had TSS, we do recommend that you talk with your doctor before using a cup. We’re period experts, not medical experts, so if you have a medical condition or something in your medical history that makes you wonder if cup use is right for you, we always encourage you to check with your trusted medical provider for their recommendation.
Though using a menstrual cup with an IUD or contraceptive ring should be no problem, we recommend talking with your medical provider before use. Some cup users find that it is more comfortable if the strings on their IUD are trimmed shorter prior to using their cup. Be sure to break the seal before removing your cup to avoid dislodging your contraceptive.
When positioning your cup with a ring contraceptive, make sure the ring is not resting in your cup since it works by contacting your skin. Many cup users reported that compared to a tampon, the cup was easier to insert and remove without disturbing the ring.
The short answer is that getting TSS while using a menstrual cup is possible, but highly unlikely. Rest easy—you can comfortably use Saalt Menstrual Cups with a high, low, or tilted/retroverted cervix. In fact, the location of the cervix may change naturally throughout a person’s cycle. If your cervix is higher, your cup may find its way higher in the vaginal canal during use. This isn’t a problem, so long as it doesn’t cause leaking or discomfort, which can come from positioning the cup too high, creating pressure against the cervix. It may also take a little more effort to remove. For those with a low cervix, our size small or Saalt Teen Cup may be your most comfortable option. If your cervix is tilted, be sure to take some time to find which angle will suit you best when your cup is inserted.
TMI welcome here. To get a quick, personal reply, email our Saalt Coaches at sayhey@saalt.com.
We're period experts, not medical experts, but there is a phenomenon called vasovagal syncope which can happen when a person's vagus nerve overreacts to a certain trigger such as the sight of blood, extreme emotional distress, or even pressure being placed on the nerve. It can lead to a sudden drop in blood pressure, and cause lightheadedness, feverishness, sweating, blurred vision, and sometimes fainting. The vagus nerve branches out all over the body, and part of the nerve passes by the cervix. So, if a menstrual cup is putting pressure or suction on the cervix, it could trigger this response. If you think this sounds like what happened to you, we'd recommend wearing your cup lower than a tampon so it does not put pressure on your cervix. We encourage you to reach out to a medical professional if you have any concerns about whether a menstrual cup is right for you.
Cup Troubleshooting
Consider removing your menstrual cup while straddling a toilet or while in the shower, especially your first time. Always break the seal before removing your cup by pinching the base of the cup and wiggling as you pull. Never pull on the stem alone. Wiggle back and forth while removing, pulling out the top/front of the rim first, keeping the cup upright to avoid spilling, then remove the bottom/back of the rim.
If you can't reach your menstrual cup when it is inserted, relax. The cup cannot get lost inside the vagina; sometimes it may sit higher up and be hard to reach (this can happen at night). You can use your pelvic muscles to move the cup lower. We refer to this as gently bearing down, and it should feel similar to starting an easy bowel movement or releasing gas. Try not to strain when you bear down, and breathe with an open mouth and loose throat to prevent pressure on your pelvic floor. Once in reach, grasp lower on the base of the cup, pinch, wiggle and gently pull it out. You may also just continue to move around and gravity will naturally move the cup back down to its normal position. The tissue of the vagina is soft. Going about normal activities like passing a bowel movement, eating and drinking, will stimulate movement and shifting of digestion, cervix, cup, and vaginal canal. The most imporant thing to remember is to relax. Try again to remove it after 30 minutes.
Also try inserting one finger alongside the cup and press in to break the seal. If possible, try hooking that one finger at the rim of the cup to help bring it lower.
If you need additional assistance, please email sayhey@saalt.com with the subject line "REMOVALMAGIC" or send us a private message on Facebook, your Saalt Coaches are ready to help!
When your menstrual cup is inserted correctly, you shouldn’t experience any discomfort or leaking. First check the position. A Saalt Menstrual Cup sits lower in the vagina than a tampon. If it is too high or too close to the cervix, it can leak or cause discomfort and cramping. Use your vaginal muscles to gently move the cup to a lower position. Your vagina has a natural slant, so make sure the cup is inserted to match the natural slant of your vaginal canal. To accomplish this, point your cup towards your tailbone instead of straight up during insertion. Leaking can also be caused by a poor seal. Make sure the four air holes are not clogged and that the cup has fully opened. Swirl a finger around the base of the cup to check for any folds or indentations. Pinch the base of the cup and rotate it to make sure it is opened completely. If leaking persists, we are here to help! Please send us a direct message or email sayhey@saalt.com for personalized tips. Most importantly, keep trying small adjustments, everyone is different.
Wipe or rinse your labia after insertion to prevent spotting. Spotting can be caused by blood left in the vagina after insertion. After inserting your menstrual cup, swirl your finger around the cup to remove any excess blood, then wash your hands. You can supplement your cup with a pad, liner, or period underwear while you are learning to use it or on your heaviest days.
For some people the cup opens right away after insertion, and for others the cup may need a bit of help to fully open. If you find your cup hasn't fully opened, try one or more of the following:
*Choose a different fold. Sometimes something as simple as changing the fold will help the cup to open easier. You can also try changing the direction the fold is facing during insertion.
*Insert the cup slightly higher into the vaginal canal. The vagina is at its narrowest near the entrance and is slightly wider higher into the canal.
*Insert your cup with the folding face down or toward the floor or your perineum/anus. The front of our vaginal canal runs along our pubic bone whereas the back runs along more soft tissue. Flipping your fold to open towards soft tissue can help your cup open more easily.
*Pinch the base of the cup and rotate it to get it to fully open. This may be a few short twists or a full 360 degree rotation.
*Try rotating again while grasping the cup a little higher.
*Gently press the vaginal wall away from the dent/fold to create more space for the cup to fully open.
*Bear down on the cup, as if having a bowel movement, as you press upward on the base of the cup to keep it in place.
*Pinch the bottom of the cup once or twice directly below the dent/fold, essentially "pumping" the fold out of the cup.
If the Saalt Menstrual Cup is positioned incorrectly, it can put pressure on your urethra or bladder. It may feel like you have to urinate often or can feel like a weak urine stream, where it can take a long time to empty your bladder. Either way, changing the position of the cup should help relieve this pressure. You’ll want to be sure that you are positioning your cup to match the natural slant of your vaginal canal. To do this, try inserting your cup more horizontally toward your tailbone.
If you know you have bladder sensitivity, you might find that our Saalt Soft is the perfect fit for comfort! The Saalt Soft is a natural progression for Saalt's menstrual cup line. It has the same bulb shape and soft rounded transitions, but is made from a slightly softer medical-grade silicone that is designed especially for those with bladder sensitivity, cramping or discomfort with firmer cups. Because the silicone is softer, it can take a little more effort to get opened, but once it's sealed, we’re confident that you’ll find it to be the perfect fit for comfort.
Teen Cup
The Saalt Teen Cup was designed with teens, for teens. The smaller size allows it to fold very small for easy insertion and may be more comfortable for those who are new to using inserted products. This makes it a great choice for teens and for anyone who may prefer a smaller menstrual cup (like people with a very low cervix).
Of course! All it takes is a little bravery.
You can still use a menstrual cup even if you’ve never put anything in your vagina before or used tampons. Many people who don’t like or haven’t used tampons use our cups and love them. We encourage you to take your time, go slowly, and listen to your body as you learn to insert your cup. For some people, anatomical differences like the size or shape of the hymen or a smaller vaginal canal may mean that a longer time practicing and learning will be needed before cup use will come easily. If you have questions, we are here to help! Our Saalt Cup Academy on Facebook is a safe and supportive place to ask questions and get help to make the transition to cup use a great one!
Not as hard as Legos or Ikea furniture, we promise. ;) There are two big factors that impact anyone's success with a menstrual cup. One is their comfort level with learning about their body and being in physical contact with their intimate anatomy (i.e. putting their fingers in their vagina to insert and remove the cup), and the other is the level of support they have to help them learn. With time and patience, most people will be able to use a cup when they have the appropriate support to help them learn what they need to know about their own body and cup use. We have lots of resources available to help you learn. Check out our YouTube playlist of how-to videos and our Saalt Cup Academy on Facebook for resources, or find more in this FAQ list! The Saalt menstrual cup is made of 100% medical-grade silicone and includes FDA compliant dyes that are BPA, latex, and toxin free. The silicone has been tested and certified for cytotoxicity and skin sensitization per rigorous FDA testing standards so it is biocompatible and hypoallergenic. Because silicone is set in a permanent bond, it cannot melt and nothing can ever leach out.
Glad you asked! The Saalt Teen Cup is a smaller but just as mighty version of the original Saalt Cup with a slightly longer stem for easier removal. It has a 2-tampon capacity and is made with ultra soft silicone. It's so comfortable, you forget it's there.
All Saalt Menstrual Cups are made from 100% medical-grade silicone and our unique design sets us apart from the crowd. Our bulb shape creates two points of contact within the vaginal canal, helping the cup be sensation and leak free as it stays put with a great seal. We use a velvety soft silicone for comfort, but our cup is still firm enough to open easily and retain its shape to prevent leaking. We know we’re partial, but we also love our soft flexible stem that is ultra-comfortable and will never rub or irritate.
10 YEARS!
The Saalt Cup is made of durable silicone that can last up to 10 years with proper care.
